What Is The New Moon? Why Is It Invisible? starsnearme.com

Welcome back everyone and hi there to you if you are new here.  How appropriate a greeting since we are going to talk about the New Moon in this piece in a new way…in a way you’ve likely not seen before.

So let’s jump back into our journey of sailing the Celestial Sea and take a new look at the New Moon.

This is a new way to look at things in the sky above our heads that we call Alternative Astronomy around here.  This is a different perspective than the usual perspective you are given when looking more into things like the phases of The Moon, like we are doing here.

Normally you are going to find images like these with an explanation that goes with it that uses the heliocentric model of the universe that we have all been taught about in schools and had heavily reinforced by various forms of media and entertainment.

Alternative Astronomy is a different perspective we call Alternative Astronomy

We take a different approach that requires nothing more than this practical knowledge you can apply right here in the “real world”, right here on the ground.

You don’t even need a telescope, just your own two eyes and curious mind to apply the knowledge you learn.

This is an image of something we have given the nickname “The Real Oracle” or “The Real All-Seeing Eye” in the sky.

It is a special place in the sky that is found by facing South and looking up.  You find South by turning your body until your left side is facing where the Sun rises in your location and your right side faces where the Sun sets where you live.

This gives you the view of everything that travels along the arc of the ecliptic and where it crosses the North-South Meridian line.  Everything that rises in the East and sets in the West, crossing the N-S Meridian line includes the Sun, the Moon (as we are looking at in this piece), all the known planets and all twelve constellations of the zodiac made famous by Astrology.

In other words, this is where most of the big celestial action occurs in the sky and is just one of the reasons we have nicknamed it The Real Oracle or The Real All-Seeing Eye.

How To Find The New Moon

When most of us think of The Moon, we automatically associate it with the night sky, right?  When we are looking for The New Moon, we have to go looking for it in the daytime sky where it is, but we can’t see it there because it’s invisible.  Allow me to show you how this is…

New Moon Invisible Reunited with The Sun Eye of Horus Ancient Egypt starsnearme.com

We are looking at an image of what is going on in the Real All-Seeing Eye in the sky from the perspective of someone on the ground in the Northern Hemisphere.

The first New Moon of this year (post written in 2022) occurs on January 2nd.

This image shows us the daytime sky at noon.  You can see the Sun is lighting up the sky like we expect to see and notice that little black spot next to the Sun…that is the New Moon.

The reason you cannot see the New Moon, and why it’s represented by the black spot, is because when the Moon is in this part of it’s journey it is too close to the Sun’s light to be seen at all.

Notice that in this same image of the daytime sky, there are star constellations that appear in the image, but are also invisible to our eyes and for the same reason.  The Sun’s light is so bright that it hides or occults the stars and the New Moon from our eyes even though they are still there in reality.

Many of our ancient ancestors, like those from Ancient Egypt for example encoded this type of knowledge within stories we call myths today and others call religion.

The epic mythology of Horus, for example includes this kind of knowledge encoded in it.  We get much more into decoding the myths of Ancient Egypt and the story of Horus in our private video series, but we can tell you here that the story of Horus involves vision being lost and then restored that is referencing the phases of The Moon from New to Full and back again…

The Sun and The Moon are reunited during the New Moon phase that we are looking at here, every month or moonth.  You can see The Moon is where we get the word month from.

The Moon is renewed every month, during this brief two and a half day timeframe when the Moon is so close to the light of the Sun that she becomes invisible.

The Moon is restored again and visible to us once she has moved a little further way from the light of the Sun and will be visible again as a thin crescent during the beginning of sunset twilight again.

We will be looking much more into the phases and the cycle of The Moon in future posts.  Some of the information from this piece comes from our book Moon Days 2022 that includes a Monday start of the week monthly lunisolar calendar and planner.  Learn the phases and cycle of The Moon with monthly sky maps.  Click here for more about Moon Days 2022.
